It is widely acknowledged that real-world experimentation essential for the advancement of sustainable solutions. Urban contexts are perfectly suited this form innovation, since they have a high demand solutions and also offer necessary resources development new ideas. However, there need well-defined basis selection process suitable experimental designs specific cases. This paper presents typology various existing sustainability designs, focusing on distinct features between different types their respective strengths weaknesses. Using case temporary housing models Vienna, provides step-by-step based catalogue questions to match projects with designs. By improving understanding what defining approaches are, more clarity provided design planning sociotechnical experiments greater sustainability.
